On 1 December 2008, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Arlene Foster MLA, launched an Independent Review of Economic Policy (IREP). The Review relates to the economic development policies and programmes of the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) and Invest Northern Ireland.
An independent panel has been established to undertake the review. The panel is chaired by Professor Richard Barnett, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ulster. The other members of the panel are Professor Brian Ashcroft, University of Strathclyde and Board member of the Economic Research Institute of NI; Dr Graham Gudgin, Centre for Business Research, University of Cambridge, and Oxford Economics; Professor Michael Moore, Queens University and Harvard University; Mr John Wright, former international banking Director and current Chairman and non-executive director of a number of companies in the UK and overseas.
